1-When did the Boiler Act come into existence?
Boiler act in India came into existence in 1923, it is applicable to all over the India, except Jammu and Kashmir.
2-What do you mean by Boiler accident?
Accident means an explosion of Boiler or Boiler component, which is calculated to weaken the strength or an uncontrollable release of steam and hot water liable to cause property damage or injury or even death.

1-A pressure vessel capacity less than 25 litres measured from feed check valve to main steam stop valve.

Economiser is a part of feed pipe, which is completely or partially exposed to the action of flue gas for the purpose of recovery of heat from it.

1-He has provided the premises or precincts, where in such a Boiler component or both are being used, such facilities for repairs as may be prescribed by regulations.
2-The design and drawings of the Boiler component as the case may be and the materials, mountings and fittings used in the repair.
3-Person engaged in welding should hold a Welder certificate issued by a Competent Authority
4-Every user should engage a Competent Person for approval of repairs to be carried out in house or by the repairers

10-When one should report the accidents to Boiler Inspector?
As per Boiler Act No.18, if any accident occurs to a Boiler or Boiler component, the owner or a person in charge should inform Boiler inspector in writing within 24 hours of the accident

Class-I Boiler Repairer:
1-The owner of the firm himself shall have a Degree in Mechanical or Production, or Metallurgical engineering or Power plant or the firm shall have on its rolls a permanently employed engineer having a Degree in Mechanical or Production, or Metallurgical engineering or Power plant engineering.
2-The firm owner or employed graduate engineer should have minimum 5 years’ experience in an organisation engaged in fabrication, erection, repair or maintenance and quality control of The Boilers.
3-Firm should have experienced and IBR qualified welders.
Class-II Boiler Repairer:
1-The owner of the firm himself shall have Diploma in Mechanical engineering or the firm shall have on its rolls a permanently employed engineer having a Diploma in Mechanical engineering
2-The firm owner or employed graduate engineer should have minimum 3 years’ experience in an organisation engaged in fabrication, erection, repair or maintenance and quality control of The Boilers.
3-Firm should have experienced and IBR qualified welders.
Class-III Boiler Repairer:
1-The firm owner or employed graduate engineer should have minimum 3 years’ experience in an organisation engaged in fabrication, erection, repair or maintenance and quality control of The Boilers.
2-Firm should have experienced and IBR qualified welders.
20-What are the requirement for Special class Boiler repairer?
1-The owner of the firm himself shall have a Degree in Mechanical engineering or Welding engineering along with specialized experience in welding technology or the firm shall have on its rolls a permanently employed engineer having a Degree in Mechanical engineering or Welding engineering along with specialized experience in welding technology.
2-Firm owner or permanently employed engineer should have minimum three years’ experience in specialized welding technology.
3- Firm should have experienced and IBR qualified welders, who should carry a valid welding certificates for carrying out the Tungsten Inert gas welding (TIG) effectively.
